IGF-1 LR3 (Long Arginine 3-IGF-1)
is a synthetic, highly potent analogue of naturally occurring Insulin-like Growth Factor-1. It is modified to be significantly more effective and longer-lasting than standard IGF-1.
The "LR3" Modification
In its natural form, IGF-1 has a half-life of only about 10–20 minutes. The LR3 version includes two major changes:
- Amino Acid Substitution: The replacement of Glutamic Acid with Arginine at the 3rd position.
- Extended Chain: The addition of a 13-amino acid extension at the N-terminus.
- Result: These changes prevent the peptide from binding to IGF-binding proteins (IGFBPs), which normally deactivate it. This extends its half-life to approximately 20–30 hours, allowing it to remain active in the body all day.
Primary Effects and Benefits
IGF-1 LR3 is primarily studied for its role in systemic tissue growth and repair:
- Hyperplasia: Unlike most performance enhancers that simply make existing muscle cells larger (hypertrophy), IGF-1 LR3 can stimulate the division and creation of new muscle cells(hyperplasia).
- Nutrient Shuttling: It enhances the transport of amino acids and glucose into muscle cells, aiding in recovery and protein synthesis.
- Fat Metabolism: It encourages the body to use fat for energy instead of glucose, supporting a leaner body composition
