Hexarelin Acetate

(also known as Examorelin) is a highly potent synthetic hexapeptide classified as a growth hormone secretagogue (GHS). It is widely considered one of the strongest growth hormone-releasing peptides (GHRPs), primarily used for its ability to stimulate a rapid and intense release of the body's natural growth hormone (GH).

Core Mechanism and Function

Hexarelin mimics the action of ghrelin, the "hunger hormone," by binding to the growth hormone secretagogue receptor (GHSR) in the pituitary gland and hypothalamus.

  • GH Stimulation: It signals a pulsatile release of GH into the bloodstream, which subsequently increases levels of IGF-1(Insulin-like Growth Factor 1).
  • Cardiovascular Support: Uniquely among GHRPs, hexarelin also binds to CD36 receptors in the heart and blood vessels. Research suggests it may offer cardioprotective benefits, such as improving heart function after a heart attack or reducing cardiac fibrosis.
  • Appetite Influence: Unlike GHRP-6, hexarelin does not typically cause a significant increase in appetite because it is more selective in its ghrelin receptor activation.

Potential Benefits (Research)

While it is not an approved medical treatment, study outcomes include:

  • Muscle Growth: Facilitates protein synthesis and muscle hypertrophy.
  • Fat Loss: Enhances lipolysis, particularly the reduction of visceral abdominal fat.
  • Enhanced Recovery: Accelerates the repair of tendons, ligaments, and muscle tissue.
  • Deep Sleep: Improves sleep quality, as natural GH is primarily released during deep sleep stages.

Regulatory Status and Legal Warning

Hexarelin is a restricted substance with complex legal standing:

  • FDA Status: Hexarelin is not FDA-approved for clinical use in humans and is classified as an investigational drug.
  • Compounding Ban: In late 2023, the FDA categorised hexarelin as a substance with significant safety concerns, making it generally ineligible for compounding.
  • WADA Prohibited: It is explicitly listed on the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Prohibited List under Section S2 as a growth hormone secretagogue.
  • Research Use: It is legally sold only as a "research chemical"for laboratory use and is not intended for human consumption.
